A) Try canting the bow slightly, away from the arrow side

B) Don't grip the arrow between your drawing fingers

C) Try a shallower hook on the string

D) You sound to be tristing the wrist of your drawing hand. Lock your wrist in a straight line, lined up with your forearm.

When this happens to me I find its because my finger is pushing against the arrow
i.e. lifting it or pushing it sideways

When this happens to me its either because im rushing or have nipped the arrow between my fingers. My advise, slow down and look out for closing your fingers on the arrow as you draw.

If the arrow LIFTS off then you are pinching it. It it FALLS off then you are twisting the string by using the fingers for the last inch or two of draw. As they curl and tighten it is enough to twist the arrow off your hand.

Two things you can do 1) Take a deeper hook on the string and then let it slide into the proper position in the first crease of the fingers. This twists the string very slightly the other way and holds the arrow against the bow. 2) Make sure the drawing elbow never stops pressing backwards throughout the shot, and keep the drawing hand flat, to avoid any tendency to pull the last inch or so with the fingers.

Canting the bow simply cures the sympton not the cause and in any case requires a different line up.

How are you holding the bow? You need to make sure that the bow hand is correctly placed to provide a good platform for the arrow.

If you are holding the bow correctly then it's likely to be that you're pinching the arrow as mentioned above.

Hi Teddybear, the cause is simple, the bow is too strong for you at present, as you draw and the stress on your fingers increases ,you unconciously try to hold more of the string by sliding the string up your fingers.By doing so you twist the string which in turn pushes the arrow away from the bow.Try having the string closer to the first joint of your fingers or even towards the second joint until you become accustomed to the power.

Peter
