AFB brace height....

On my new Samick AFB, the brace height is recommended between 7 1/2" - 8 1/4"

What I'm unsure of is where should it be measured to???

I have always been told it is to the deepest part of the handle.

I was told by KG Archery to measure the brace height on my 68" KG Atlanta AFB to the back of the riser and they recommended 8" - 8 1/2". Measuring brace height to the back of the riser was common with the older recurves and other trad bows in years past. I suppose you could always drop the manufacturer an email for clarification?

That's for KG's own bows only. Standard measurement used by 99% of manufacturers is to the 'throat' or deepest part of the grip.

Thanks folks....

I measured slightly forward fo the deepest part. Basically picked a particular lmaination ond used that as a reference.

Looks like the BH can go up a wee bit further.

Similarly, does anyone know the brace height range for an Internature Viper Delux? All the info I have says 8" (a bit specific I feel........). Shoots nicely at "around that", but I'd be interested to know the actual range. Manufacturers website is, erm, less than helpful......

Raedwald there is probably no specific answer. Use whatever brace height works best which for me usually means starting from the lowest recommended setting and working up slowly until the bow sounds quietest (often someone else standing nearby can judge the sound better) and it shoots the smoothest, which is all quite subjective. It is easy to tell when it is totally wrong as the bow is harsh and noisy. I had a 35# Viper for a while so i could work on form although I was always trying to get the maximum performance from it. My Border Griffon is 6 5/8" and by Blackbrook Zeta is 7 5/8" so I'd probably have started at 7" and worked up.
