Accuracies in a set of wooden arrows

What is the minimum accuracies you demand from a set of wooden arrows ? For example,in a set of 3 or 6 do you expect to have the same POA for all at your maximum distance, or is aiming off to bring some back into the group acceptable.

Personally I want ALL of them going where I want them to go. In a set of 24 if any show signs of too stiff spine I sand them down so they fly the same as the others. To weak and I'll pass them on to someone else. I like all my woodies weighing the same, give or take 10-15 grains and buy them as closely spine matched as possible which is well worth the few extra quid. It's all about consistency - if i had to aim differently for one particular arrow it means I'd be doing something different with my form.
I'm going through a tough patch with my archery at the moment and have gone back to the beginning in order to try and get my mojo back. It's all about repeating good form - doing exactly the same thing again and again. Matched and consistent equipment is important.

Hi there

If you want a fully matched set then you need to weight match them all with 10gn and also spine match to +/- 1lb. Only then will you get a set to fly in the same direction.

I've got eleven arrows that roughly weigh the same, but one that is 150 grains heavyer

I've marked it, and aim a little higher when shhoing it, but I don't use it in competitions.
If you're fine with aiming at different places go for it, if not get some that are the same.

I spend ages in the bow shop when i buy my wooden arrows checking spine and straightness, and i will go through the entire stack of shafts so i can get the closest matched ones and im usually lucky if i find 12 good enough.

Speak to Goldflight Archery - I don't have the time to sort through arrows myself for weight and spine so I get an expert to do it for me. I use the Boyton pine shafts and for straightness, spine and weight matching I haven't found better although I'm sure there are other excellent traditional arrow suppliers offering a similar service.

Just had a dozen from Dennis at Goldflight - 46/47# spine range.

Excellent service from an excellent supplier.

Currently making them up: so, checking balance, length, etc.....

Problem is, when they don't go where I want them to, I've only me to blame now!!
