Smile Ordered Longbow ... Thoughts, comments, please guys and gals

Just ordered my first Longbow, what do you think, please be brutal I love pain ...

Ordered from Pete Davidson, Tradlongbows. .... Did not see him in the Manufacturers list??

A carriage longbow because I want to strap it to my backpack.

Osage belly, Purpleheart core, Bamboo Back, Horn nocks ..... 50-55# @ 28"
I draw 28 - 281/2" according to how much adrenalin is flowing
So I guess he will tiller to 29" .. I think it's going to be about 73" long.
Not sure on the string .... I know it won't be a fastflight, he does not like those on a wooden bow!

Should be done Jan (first half I think) .. Just got to learn to shoot it then

Good choice of bow and bowyer??

Steve.

Pete Davidson

I've seen his bows on eBay and they look great.
Also e-mailed him a couple of times about glueing horn nocks to limb tips.
Very helpful guy so I'm sure you won't be disapponted.
Cheers Dave

I have a bow from Pete (bamboo/bubinga/lemonwood) and it's lovely, he's very helpful aswell. Sounds like your bow will be excellent, osage is a great bellywood, coupled with bamboo it should make a very fast bow

I too have one of his bows (65lb at 28")
well actually I dont now I think about it, I passed it on to someone else a few weeks ago but its still going strong

Its a very well made bow and Pete is a nice and very helpful chap so you can rest assured you have made a good choice

and I see he is now making warbows so he cant be bad ;-)

In fact Pete was one of the first bowyer I managed to find who was willing to help me get myself a vegan longbow so I have nothing but praise for him. Most bowyers basically just ignored me or told me to get lost

Never had one of Pete's bows, but heard nothing but good about him. Seen a couple in action and they performed really well.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the assurance all, I had a good feeling after talking to Pete.
A no nonsense helpful guy who didn't mind answering my green questions in a straight manner. The way I like it.

I've been reading up on ELB shooting styles/form .. I don't know why but when I had a brief go with a Longbow I shot it very simillar to what I've read, just seemed the way to do it .. I have a friend locally who shoots NFAS ELB and has a nice Yew bow which he's shot for 10 years plus, no doubt he will guide me further.

Due to a hand/wrist problem I have I was looking for a bow with as little hand shock as poss. Pete assures me that my choice of carriage bow is ideal.
The socket and sleeve joint being obviously heavier and stiffer will soak up most of the shock.

Great can't wait for Jan now ... just the job!

CRUSADE14 ... An edible bow thats a thought for survivalists when theres nothing left to shoot !! ....... No Animal derived parts of course

Cheers,

Steve.

Alenesq--Kudos for sticking to your principles, must have been very frustrating at times. Unfortunately i still like steak and chips, but great web story.
