'Budget' flatbows

I'm looking at getting a flatbow. Not yet, 'cos my wife has banned me from spending more money on archery; but soonish.

I've been looking through the forum and most of the recommendations are for Border or Blackbrook bows etc.

My question is about the 'other kind' of flatbow. The Samick SLB, Cobra, Super Woodsmanm, the Internature, the Quicks Viper etc. They retail at around £100, as opposed to more than £200 for the custom made ones above.

Is it worth going for the cheaper ones, bearing in mind that I am just as likely to keep with barebow recurve or move onto ELB as to stay with the flatbow. I assume they shoot well enough? There's a guy at the club uses one, but I'm not sure how to phrase the question 'is your bow cheap and useless?' any more politely...

I got a Samick SLB II from Merlin (£80) a couple of months ago....

I really like it. Don't get me wrong, its not the best bow in the world, but it serves my purposes - to have a bit of fun with!!!

As with a lot of things, you get what you pay for. Spending a couple of hundred quid will get a superior bow, but I can't justify spending that kind of cash - a lot depends on your budget.

Got an Internature Viper Delux a couple of months ago (£110 from Clickers). Fun to shoot, and just diferent enough from the X200.

Still, I recon I'll be sticking to the H/R as the "serious" bow. Mind you, as the AFB is a higher poundage, it's good training for the H/R!
