and then there were steel bows

Ask any older club members about the joys of steel bows breaking. The thought of razor sharp pieces of steel zinging past your ears just doesn't compare, does it?

Good luck with the new bow

Steel bows

Hey they were before my time too, but luckily have seen and shot one. Made from tubular steel, they were around in the 50's and early 60's I think, the tendency being to rust inside which let to occasional/often catastrophic breakdown. According to Jim Nichols, who shot to MB using one, you had to destring them on a regular basis and bend them back across your knee, 'cos they tended to follow the string after a few dozen arrows. Try doing that with a Nexus!! Give me a stout bit of Osage any day!
