Samick SLB II string...

Does anyone know whether a Samick SLB II AFB will be OK to use with a fastflight type string???

If so, is there any negative effect twisting a 70" string to fit the 68" bow???

Thanks

I wouldn't risk it, but if you do fit a fastflite string then make it a flemish twist as the laid in loops give a small amount of cushioning. I suspect that an endless loop fastflite string would break the bow.
As for twisting a string to shorten it two inches, again I doubt that you could make that work. You'd have two many twists and the string will be trying to tie itself in knots.
I'd use a dacron string the correct length for the bow personally.

Hoy hoy. for the first question i dont know i only shot hoyt but for the second one i wouldn't recomend it at all.you will be forcing the limbs to bend even more which on a long term can bring damage to them.another thing is that it will be more difficult to tune the bow.
so....simply buy a 70' string or make one

Van- it's the other way round.

Darther- you can do it- I've done it myself on a recurve that came with a string that's too long, but I can't recommend it. But the lad reall wanted to shoot, and it was the only option on the day. The brace height was not what you'd call stable.

I wouldn't use a FF type string on the SLB myself, because I think the risk of breakage outweighs any small gain in speed you'll get. On a higher performance bow with properly reinforced nocks I'd say go for it.

FWIW, making flemish strings is pretty easy, I can recommend a good DVD if anyone's interested.

Send me a PM if you'd like a (free) B-50 flemish string for your SLB.
