Can we break it? Yes we can!

If anyone ever wondered what happens to underspined woodies....then I have a tale to tell.

That fine gentleman bkupris sold me his KG Atlanta. It arrived at my office lovely and shiny and as good as new. It sat there taunting me for a couple of day............"nearly the weekend" it said............."soon be time to go out and play" it said.

What it did not say is "remember to buy some new shafts and tips 'cos I'm much more powerful".
No, instead it said "I'm sure that underspined woodies won't make THAT much difference. Perhaps a little fish tailing, but hey, what the hell."

Saturday dawned and I scooted down the woods. Fire a few shots at the portsmouth to get my eye in and away we go. At this point some will remind me that we do not fire arrows as firing things involves an explosion of some kind.

So anyway, I place my foot upon the first peg and FIRE my first arrow. Fishtial.....bounce off tree.....hit animal at odd angle........arrow whips itself in half.
No problem, must have been a poor release. 2nd peg, kill. No probs.
By the 5th target I managed to bounce off the target, whip off a tree and land next to the 6th target 40 yards away in 4 parts.
Suffice to say by the end of the weekend, having shot a full animal and half a FITA I had broken 13 of my arrows and lost 2 of my fellow archers arrows.

Brian, when I met you you seemed like a nice bloke. You don't seem like the kind of fella to put a hex on a bow. That, or the moral of the tail is.........do underspined woodies make a difference........OH YES!

I did, at least, keep everyone at the club highly amused. Suffice to say, spines on order and glue gun at the ready.

I'm writing this from work because, although this is a bank holiday, I've run out of arrows and nobody wants to lend me any more.

Just been re-finishing a set and found a cracked one, it's in the bin now. These vids remind me how important it is to check them regularly!
