Hey Rob, how are ya buddy?

The bow was advertised as being 35lbs at 30", which is my draw length, and so, I'm only drawing the bow back to what it was advertised to be, but I've got a feeling that it should've been advertised as being 35lbs at 28", because if it was 35lbs @ 30", then I don't think that it would've lost any cast.

In saying that, I might just take some time and use club a club bow and raise the money for a decent bow, instead of the lump of firewood I have now.

It's supposed to be yew, but I'm seriously beginning to doubt that as well.

Hi L.G.
As Rob said it may be possible to tighten the cable with a few twists, which will bring the poundage back up a bit. Or if you contact the bowyer they may replace the cable. Has the bow followed the string much ( does it stay bent unstrung?)? If not then it is the cable and is probably fairly easy to repair.

It seems odd to cable back Yew. Cable backed bows normally originated in places where they only had inferior bow wood or the moisture levels in the air would rob a bow of its cast eg Inuits/Eskimos( I prepair to be corrected ).
Good luck mate, its sad when bow wood becomes firewood!

Hey HHD, how are ya buddy?

Yes, the bow has seemed to follow the string quite a bit, I'll post a pic later once I get the webcam installed again

I'm considering the possibility of a laminate bow, but at the same time, I'll probably just shop around for a while

I'm disgusted that the bow has lost as much poundage, because when I first got it, it was like a dream to shoot and was definitely pretty quick, but I guess that it's how it goes sometimes, but I'll see if I can find out who made the bow and see what happens

Thank you once again guys for replying, I really appreciate it

It's only a matter of time now!

The bow has shown it's first signs of giving up the ghost last night, when I heard the first twang, from the bow upon drawing, to which I unstrung the bow and checked the cable bracing, which the sorrounding bracing loops had to be moved further down the bow, in order to try and get a wee bit more life out of the bow before it snaps.

I think that if I get another week's shooting out of the bow, I'll be happy, but I'll be suprised if I get another week's shooting from it.

It'll be back to using club equipment for me, untill I can get sorted out with a decent quality bow, but I'll see how it goes for a while first, as I'm still tempted by a Korean Classic bow, but not 100% sure about them.... well, not yet

Another One Bites The Dusts

Yep, after about 4 months of good shooting, my bow has finally became firwood, 2 nights ago, just before I shot a test arrow into my rejuvenated target boss

I'm not suprised or bothered about it, as I knew it would happen sooner or later, after all, it's part and parcelt of traditional archery and it won't put me off getting another bow, but I will be looking to get a better quality bow, than the beginner bow I had and I think that something around the 40/45lb mark would be better, to allow me to get used to a quicker draw weight, but I'll see how it goes, once I've moved into my temporary new house

Thanks HHD, I appreciate it buddy

I'm still liking the longbow, but at the same time, I'm also lkiking the thought of getting the korean bow, as I have a 30" draw length and I like the fact the they have plenty of extra draw length in them, but I'm open minded at the monent

I'll have a batch of arrows up for grabs once I get a new bow sorted, as the arrows I have are spined for a 30/35lb bow and they'll be useless for a heavier draw bow, as they'll probably snap from the extra weight upon release

I'm open to suggestions at the moment, but I'm sticking with traditional bows

Thank you NDY, I really appreciate the offer, but the draw weight is a bit higher than I can draw at the moment, as I'm still quiite new to archery in general and I'm just looking to gradually work my way up through the draw weights to eventually reach warbow draw weights, as that is what I'm aiming for

I may go 45/50 @ 30", but it depends ifI can find a bowyer that will be able to make a good long lasting bow, to my draw length, etc, without being expected to pay money that I don't have for it.

It often puzzles me as to why bowyers that have plenty of "Here's one I made earlier" bows, can't offer to make them in varying draw lengths, instread of there just being a standard of 28" draw, but I guess that it's just how the arrow flies

Anyways, I'm gonna take a trip to the archery centre and see if I can try out the Korean Bow and a few longbows as well, but I'll see what happens as it's a 60? mile journey there and back and I'm in the middle of moving house, I've missed out on archery the past 2 weeks, which really sucks

Thank you once again NDY, I really appreciate it alot
