Shoot both! Enjoy both! If you're not enjoying youself, there's no point! That's how people end up as stamp collectors!

It's all archery, whatever the bow looks like.

I went through this a little time ago, as some of those who post here will remember my agonising at the time. I reflected at some length and for me it came down to this. I made the mistake of letting a bow define who I am. You risk a lot of disapointment if you limit your self image to "I am a Longbowman", or "I am a Recurve Archer" because if you fail to meet your own demanding (and often unreasonable) standards, you fail yourself - very bad for your Karma!

Picking up a new bow need not mean putting the old one down (at least metaphorically!) - have a break, refresh your outlook, forget old habits which might have been limiting you and when you come back, learn anew. It is far more fun and very liberating.

Try everything, itr's good that you are keeping a long bow. Don't limit yourself to just recurve either. There's Limited and Unlimited compound to try as well.

When I shot recurve I ended up a boss with two longbow archers for the day in a double FITA 900. I don't think I've ever had so much fun and they were on the sherry all day long!!

It is embarrassing when a longbow archer scores better than you at a competition even if it is Dave Phillips
