Unhappy moving to the dark side

I am sad to say i am moving to the dark side.....my longbows are going(some for sale in the classified section if you are interested) and a recurve will replace!! it started shooting a recurve at my club recently and realised i'm a better archer than i thought i was! the longbows had tought me to control my form even with a heavier weight bow....but in the end spine matching is a pain the effects of weather extremes on the weapon have lead me with a heavy heart to make the dicision to go recurve(sniff!!) Oh and they are a pain on the tube in london as well.....i would like to know what people think as my club is completely recurve, fita, etc so their poinion is biased....

The darkside is compound, you get a red light sabre with that, recurve is a blue one. I can see your reasons, I tried longbow, it did my head in. Arrows were so difficult to spine, life is too short..but each to there own. There are some very good longbow archers out there and some who just like the history behind it. There are another two types of longbow archers, ones that are very good and could be excellent with a recurve/compound bow, and ones that are hopless and shoot longbow as it masks there lack of ability, and just turn up for the sherry and have fun .

I think that you should shoot whatever style you get the most enjoyment from. Recurve / Longbow / Compound, we're all archers.
I shoot in the longbow because it's what I enjoy most. I think that you should use the bow that you enjoy most. If it's a reluctant decision, then keep you favourite longbow and a set of arrows so that should you wish to come back, you can do so. (Or just bring it out every now and then to prove that you can still shoot a real bow )

I'm with English Bowman. It's what you want that matters but whatever attracted you to ELB in the first place is probably still there so keep some wood handy. However if hitting gold more often is what makes you happy then perhaps you are moving to the dark side where a compound is the next step. Anakin became Darth Vader as he acquired more metal bits. Either way may the force be with you.

moving to the dark side

Omigod

When I saw the title of this post I thought we'd lost another one

But now I realised that for once, we've actually gained one !

Welcome to the light & may the force be with you.

Seriously though - as others have said - whatever you shoot enjoy it.

Good luck

We have archers who shoot in all three disciplines in our club! I'm also of the opinion that it doesn't matter what you shoot, as long as you enjoy it.
