viper dlx flatbow.........broken

i was sorting my gear on saturday ready for pennington archers open field shoot on sunday, the string needed a new nocking point so i did that with some dental floss, put an arrow on the string and drew it back, then there was an almighty crack and the bloody bow broke, just at the top of the riser, this is the second one of these bows i've had, the first one was replaced because the riser had a crack in it, and the limb tip was delaminating, now this one has gone too, i'm thinking about taking it back again, but not sure if i want to risk another of these bows,
I had to shoot on sunday with a borrowed bow, the one that broke was left handed, i had to shoot right handed, not me best score

Aye, me too.

Are you doing anything obviously wrong/different from recommended (draw length, not using a stringer, different string etc)?

i was using a different string to the one that was supplied, but it was dacron not fastflite so it should have been ok, the bracing height was set to 7 1/2 inches, when the supplier replaced the first bow i asked him what the bracing height should be, and he strung my old bow and measured it and said about 7 inches, when i looked it up on the web i found the manufacturers info and that said 8 inches, so i went for the middle
