Longbow definition Rule 206
(d) Arrows. Arrows shall have wooden steles (shafts), shall be fitted with feather fletchings,
and may have either horn-reinforced, self or applied nocks. There is no limit to the
maximum shaft diameter. Piles shall not exceed the diameter of the shaft at the point of
fitment. Shouldered piles, whilst not disallowed, should be avoided because of excess
damage to targets. Arrows shall be properly marked, so that there shall be no difficulty
in claiming them.

Plus the clout rules
701. Bowstyles The description of bowstyles is given in Part 2. Bowstyles applicable to
Clout Archery are as follows:
(a) Recurve (Freestyle) – Equipment as defined in Rule 202.
(b) Recurve Barebow – Equipment as defined in Rule 204.
(c) Longbow – Equipment as defined in Rule 206.
(d) Compound Unlimited – Equipment as defined Rule 207.
(e) Compound Limited – Equipment as defined in Rule 208.
(f) Crossbow – Equipment as defined in Rule 210.

So if it is in the longbow class it needs feathers on the arrows.

Thanks sorry for getting back so late. The first response after my first is the best, bend the leg and not pivot from the waist. If you can try to start pushing foward of the back leg just before you lose and the arrow will go at least 10% further. It's called a rolling loose, but be warned it takes a lot of practice and I mean a lot but once mastered is very, very effecitve. The other way is to increase your draw length on your current bow, if Gnas rules allow. The most effective way, as I wrote on another thread, is to 'shoot in the bow', instead of pulling to an anchor point on you face, you pull around your body and find the natural anchor. This allows you to draw further without strain, hence keeping stability and increasing the energy imparted to the arrow and hence increase the distance. Hard to explain easy to learn, lifetime to master! I know I run the risk of a serious amount of flack for saying it but there are other trechniques out there, the ones I propose and practice are the ones our forebears used way back then, they are effective but are very hard to master (I'm still learning after 7 years). For someome interested in just target archery I'd say stick to the techiques you've learnt they work, but if you want to try other things, such as clout as well as target try 'shooting in the bow' it works for both as well as many other things.
