100 yards sight marks OK, I 'm looking for those of you who shoot ELB with 50# to 58# on the fingers and can either put the pile of the arrow on the gold at 100, or even use a rubber band at that distance.
If this is you I'd be interested in who made your bow and what woods it is. I'd also like to know about the rest of your set up.
The reason for this thread is that I am getting frustrated with shooting at invisible bosses at 100 yards! (Although I do like to see the arrows in the air I also like to hear them hit!) In competition this season I am getting about 2 hits per dozen, average score 9 per dozen. Last season I averaged 244 for a York, with a best of 319. Nowhere near that this year (274, 245, 202).
My bows are both by Bickerstaffe. Hickory backs, osage bellies, one has a single core of greenheart, the other has a double core (can't remember what).
Fastflight string, use a tab, not a glove.
Best sight mark is the valley between the first two knuckles of the bow hand on the gold. Arrows for this are 5/16" pine, rear taper, 100 grain piles, 3" low profile fletches, weight is about 470 grains.
Tried Sitka last season and had problems with the belly of my original bow, Mt Bickerstaffe had to repair it and had some harsh words to say about excessively light arrows. Could just have been an unlucky bit of wood I suppose.
