First longbow comp

Next Sunday I will be shooting my first competition with a longbow. It is a York round. I am used to scoring 1080-ish with my recurve. What would be a realistic score to aim for with the longbow? Bearing in mind that I have not had too much practise as yet!

RE: First longbow comp

I'd like to re-phrase that question.
For York rounds Rose badges are awarded for acheivement-800/900/1000 etc. Ok for compounds and recurves, but what scores are realistic acheivements for a longbow?

HeHe! After stopping for sherry and cake every 3dozen arrows, I still managed a fairly respectful 243 to come 2nd!
I was winning until 60 yds when the guy who won put on a rubber band and hammered me!!! I think I scared him as he is used to winning by a good margin.

Well done. Best I ever did was come somewhere in the middle. I have a Bickerstaff Yew/Hickory, 50#, 78inches, with a draw length of 31 inches. What's yours?

Its a Tradlongbows Maple/yew/lemonwood 65lb @ 29", 74".
Shot another comp with it last Sunday, the Kettering Traditional (all bow styles to be shot barebow). 5doz @ 160yds, 5doz @ 140yds. Scored an enormous 23 to come 2nd to the same guy again. He won the longbow section with 26!

The score will be immaterial; take a comfy chair, an umbrella and your Mum's Valium!
