Recommendations for longbow sellers?

Hi All,

I had a go at shooting longbow @ 60 yards not long ago, and would like to see if I could get a first bow and a half dozen/dozen arrows to see how I go with it, say about 45-50 lbs.

Could I be cheeky enough to ask you sage bowpersons to direct me to a good seller of longbows?

Not looking for wooden recurve, flatbow is fine.

Please and thanks

Hi Poorly
Over the years I've had a number of bows made for myself and friends by a man called Paul Reid.
His bows are beautifully made of laminates, have good cast and are reliable and represent good value for money.
The bow I currently shoot is about 55# is about ten years old and is shot most weekends, that should bear out what I said about reliability.
He's based in Morden,Surrey.
He also offers great after sales service if required.
Pm me if you want his phone number.

Not one of the cheapest around but I've been more than happy with Pip Bickerstaffe's bows http://www.bickerstaffebows.co.uk/

Can add my recommendation for Pip Bickerstaff.

Have been shooting one of his bows for over a year - and a number of our club members also have bows from him and are totally satisfied.

Make the effort to go to his Kegworth (J25 on MI) workshop and discuss your needs - you will learn a lot (I certainly did), enjoy the experience (they are a really friendly lot) and get a bow that suits your needs.

Brgds

I suggest WelchmanLongbows.com
Mr. Welch makes the "what you think of when you say longbow" bows. Old English style, yew, self longbow, with horn tips. Great work. Heirloom quality bows.
