Yep kind of agree there and does have an equaly fond place in our hearts.

Never thought of the plane as the weapon tho, more the vehicle that delivers it, ie the guns are mounted to the plane and the bombs are dropped from it. Unlike modern fighter planes that are flying missile launchers.

Hmmm maybe contradicting myself a bit there, but that said they used to drop bombs from hot air ballons but I wouldn't call that a weapon:
