Your right about the slightly less forgiving shot bit, but the hand shock is down to limb tip mass. Stopping a heavy limb tip will give a shock to the bow. Most bows where hand shock is evident is not a efficent bow.
But this is because the reflex limb shape "when strung" is often achived by adding thicker cores hence stiffening the outer part of the limb holding its shpe, thus adding mass to the limb helping retain its shape.
One is reflexed when string, the other isnt.
OL adcock has cured this issue with his patented idea, and so have we by good use of design and materials.
Our Merlin GL has the same limb mass to the Griffon GL, and has similar hand shock. This is confused by the angles of the limbs and the direction of the energy when the limbs come to a stop. The Merlin is a howard hill style reflexed only bow, the griffon is a R/D bow. Straight Flat flat bows are not really a good design in our opinion.
