I think that's fairly feasible.
Don't forget, flight arrows are virtually knitting needles with vanes attached!

For what they're designed to do, pretty good. If you're going to shoot it properly with arrows that are well designed for distance, they'll go a long way and fairly accurately to boot.

If, on the other hand, you're going to chuck bits of B&Q dowel at targets at 20 yards on a Thursday night and do nothing else with it, it'd be a crying shame and a waste of a good bow.
