i returned the bow to the shop, it was replaced without question, the new bow seems fine, although i was advised not to use a fastflite string as has been advised on here, so i made a flemmish twist string for it

The wide limbs and huge limb tips on the Viper can easily cope with fastflite. This bow, like most modern AFBs, performs better with a FF string with more speed and less handshock. There is not that much difference in speed whether a Flemish twist or Endless Loop string is used but the difference between FF and B50 is measurable. For less than a tenner a noticeable improvement can be made.

Any stringmaker will do you a 14 strand FF string although I use Flybow (link on my web - just tell him its for a 68" AFB). I prefer endless loop strings but one advantage of a flemish string is there is more string material at the loops which slightly pads them out and offers a bit more protection for the tips.
Also if you are handy with a surform file and some sandpaper taking off a couple of mm from the edges of the last 12 inches of the limbs right to the tips and reducing the bulk of the tip overlays themselves will add some fps and reduce a little handshock. Doing that will null and void your warranty! Search for AIM Viper threads on some of the US trad bowhunting forums and you should find a lot of advice on boosting the bow's performance. Getting it tuned right in the first place will make the biggest difference especially brace height.
