Over here in NJ, there is a college called Drew. A while back, ~21 years, the students created a one day Medieval Faire. When I arrived I knew it needed an archery tourney. The end result includes a standard style accuracy shoot, a wand shoot, and a speed shoot. The scoring is set so that all three styles have a chance at equal maximum scores. The speed round is not timed, but rather is run "heads up" drag race style; that is everyone shoots at the same time and the first one to loose the 6th arrow yells hold and gets an extra 7 points, accuracy still counts. It is great fun and only once has anyone won all three styles the same year.

Speed-Clout

Here in Russian Longbow Club we make Speed-Clout tournaments several times a year... The scoring is just as in the Clout shooting but You have only two 1 minute rounds... We have some fellows who shoots about 16-18 per minute... But we use speed shooting only for Clout, not for target - like in medieval military exercize )

Here are some photos from our shoots, and some of them are about the speed-clout shooting ) esp those where the bows looks in the sky )))
