| Just been checking the 2007 IFAA rulebook and have noticed the Longbow arrow ruling regarding crestings no further down the shaft than 30mm from the end of the feathers. It came up last year but I was told it wasn't going to be an issue. I'm assuming that now it is in the latest rules it will apply for all 2007 comps. Doesn't bother me as my own woodies comply but this is going to upset quite a few archers who have nice cresting designs on their favourite tournament arrows. In fact most of the commercially bought arrows with crestings will fail this. My shooting buddy buys his arrows from 3 Rivers Archery and according to this 2007 rule they are all illegal. Not one single LB archer I know thinks this cresting rule is a good idea. Seems pointless to me but most of the IFAA longbow rules annoy me anyway.

| 100% I agree 100% with you, The IFAA does seem to punish the longbow users more than any other catagory,,, they must be longbow haters. ![]() |

| I cannot see any reason for this rule at all, just plain stupid Daniel |

| How bizarre! Has the IFAA been gracious enough to explain their reasoning? At least GNAS has made some attempt to engage in discussion on the dreaded dress code rule. |

| I imagine it will be about using cresting rings as sight marks which is fair enough as it can be done, especially if the crestings are halfway down the shaft or towards the pile end. But 30mm is taking things too far. Most of the IFAA longbow/AFB guys I know are set up point on around 60 + yards so there is no advantage to be gained from their cresting. If we were shooting clout then perhaps but it's a draconian rule affecting a great many honest archers in order to foil a tiny minority of possible cheats. Aesthetics is a big part of trad archery and arrow crestings are about personality and individuality. It would be a shame to lose that in the name of friendly competition.
