If I were to get another longbow it would be a takedown bow,as one aspect of shooting them in london I never liked was london underground with a 6'6" bag!!!
Why dont you get a compound, with them bloody wheels on it you can ride it through london.

Already shooting one! even with the entire workshop I'm carrying with it, it is still easier than carrying a longbow! The amount of people who would kick it, bump it, bash it with briefcases.....It was half tempting to take it out and shoot people with it.......if they would stand perfectly still and let me get my point of aim right!

Should've, the law says you can't hunt animals in this country. Aren't commuters classed as vermin.

Longbows are GREAT!

Mine is still on order - but a friend let me shoot about 3 dozen with his today after the usual weekend shoot and its just brilliant.

I just love that satisfying "punch" in the bow hand at release!

Still cant work out where I am supposed to aim - but if I just shoot it it seems to hit - and thats another good point - not worrying that I missed gold, just chuffed I hit it full stop


Cant chuffing wait untilmy bow arrives!!!

After 10 years of recurve I converted a few months ago and doubt if I'll ever go back. It's totally renewed my interest in archery, so much so that I'm even thinking of entering a few competitions again, at the very least at club level. I've already achieved a club record, a double Portsmouth (only because no one had ever shot it before!)

Apart from all the joys of making arrows, wood is such a natural material and without being corny, its easy to be "at one" with the bow. No more fiddling with sights or worrying why I missed the gold, if I hit the boss I'm happy.

The only problem I've come across is shooting indoors. Because I prop my bow up against the wall, some b*gger always steals my spot on the line

Was having a chat at work about archery and one of the blokes said “I used to do that, I have a longbow at home you can borrow if you want”
DO I, AND THEN SOME !
So I now have a borrowed 48# longbow and 5 wooden arrows a few days off work, I just need it to stop raining long enough to get out on the field.

Off to the garage now to sort out an O ring or elastic band.
