My outdoor one is lancewood. Around 100 years old. Shoots much better than my other one, which is hickory and lemonwood, and which I keep for indoors becasue it is shorter and doesnt hit the ceiling.

Yup! Essentially I have quite a good relationship with my bowyer and I'm very average when it comes to drawlength and draw weight (Somewhere between 45-50lb) If he makes me a couple of bows he normally sells on the one I don't want on his website or on ebay.

Sorry to be the class dunce, but is there a way I could tell what my bow's made of? I got it second hand, you see. (I think she did tell me at the time but I was too excited to listen..)

If you take a picture just above the grip we may be able to hazard a guess of what woods it might be.

I think I'm in agreement with laminatekid. Defo Lemonwood and hickory, and probably greenheart.

My victorian style (yes the one that spends more time on the bench than in the field) is Lemonwood, Purpleheart and Maple. (originaly had Hickory back.. actually has had two Hickory backs )

My Bickerstaffe bow is (f**king great... sorry I mean) Osage, Satinwood and Hickory.

New one is on order, I'll let you know what it is when it arrives

Yep, i'd agree with you there.

Souds like you've got a great bow combination Jaarus, The Osage belly will make it very sweet to draw, and is the best (IMO) modern material, and performs similarly to Yew without the short life problem.

Let us know how you get on!

Kae.
