I was there tonite, guess you missed me....... I went down on unofficial earlies today .

I may go down Friday, see how I feel. Been doing most work at home or going to LCB to shoot outdoors on Fridays of late. WRT hungarian style bows, have you talked to BJ coaches about this yet? The one I am selling is around 45# draw weight and you need some info as to whether or not it would be suitable before I consider discussing terms- it may be too heavy for someone just finished beginners, but I have not seen you shoot so cannot comment. No doubt Tomo or Smoggie will comment further on here if you don't get around to asking them

I also have 2 other people interested, one of whom I expect to hear from soon- if he decides no then another guy here on the forum has also expressed an interest and he is next in the queue. If he decides no then in theory its available and will be sold to the first person who stumps up the price.

hello all im new here

i have been reading this thread and i thought i would reply to help as i shoot an hungarian bow at 110#at 32".

learn on the hungarian straight away if it is what you want to shoot, dont listen to people who say to you you must learn another way first because you will find it very hard to ever shoot instinctively.(both eyes open)

all you need to learn first is the saftey aspect of archery.

the rest, such as draw to the chin ,close one eye (eye dominance),tip the bow forward after release, all useless and not helpfull in shooting the hungarian bow.

heres a vid of me shooting my bow i think you may agree my shooting style looks quite different to a recurve archer.

I've shot longbow and recurve (started out long-bow) and currently shoot compound (unlimited). I've shot my Hungarian bow off both fingers (mediterranean loose) and off the thumb in Eastern style.

But basics is basics- I found there's far more the same between the bow styles than there is difference, IMHO. And before someone quotes "instinctive archery" remember- you aim wth your whole body, not your eyes......

i dont want to be rude but it sounds like you have been shooting your hungarian like a recurve.

dont restrict you knowledge of archery by what you learn in basic recurve archery.

i take it you shoot with one eye closed? and are used to a sight?

dont try to transfer this style to shooting a hungarian you will be the crappest shot ever

On a safety note what were those other archers doing collecting their arrows whilst you were still shooting.
